648Changeling: the Dreaming has always stood out as being different from the rest of the games set in the World of Darkness. Unjustly it has been called tone-breaking, or silly, yet if one peels away at the sometimes childlike exterior of the game, it is easy to see how it fits into the Gothic Punk world created by White Wolf.
Changeling: the Dreaming is a game about inevitability, much like many other titles in this setting. You are a Fae soul forced to be reborn in the body of a human to survive the dreadful emptiness that is the Banality of Existence. Magic is dying, rapidly, and you are cut off from Arcadia, your home. Autumn is here, and after it will be the long winter, where Glamour and Inspiration will be drowned out by an overwhelming sheet of Banality.
Changeling: the Dreaming is a game about living in the moment, of treasuring those halcyon days of freedom and imagination. It is a game about preserving and nurturing what spark of creativity you can find, and hoping that it will be enough. Schemes and Machinations of the Freehold Courts mingle with heroic tales of fighting legendary monsters, or protecting your hard-earned Glamour for mages or Vampires thirsting for it.
Changeling: the Dreaming is about finding Hope in Despair. I hope you will join me as I tell you more.
