Chapter 11 - Raiden - Getting the Strings (Story Mode)
0CHAPTER 11:For this penultimate chapter, it's time to take control of the thunder god Raiden. After defeating Raiden, our point of view shifts to Raiden’s perspective for this chapter. He uses Shinnok’s amulet to try and deduce whether Scorpion is lying about what he tells the group. Liu Kang insists that his anger is getting the better of him and to stop using the darkness of Shinnok’s Amulet.
He strikes Liu Kang down telling him not to interfere, and the two battle in the heat of the argument. After defeating Liu Kang, as Raiden preaches about demanding order, Liu Kang comments that if he must die than so be it. This phrase triggers memories of other timelines within Raiden that he’s experienced fighting Liu Kang time and time and time again. He comes to realize that this is the will of Kronika. He realizes his foolishness and helps Scorpion up, informing the others that Kronika has restarted Time countless times, perfecting the plan each time.
Suddenly, all of Raiden’s allies freeze, and Kronika appears before him confirming his suspicions. She tells him their combined power threatens her plan for the timeline. She also informs him that this conversation has happened before, that he’s come to this realization before, but that it doesn’t matter. She welcomes him to try, but knowing that Raiden and Liu Kang’s combined power is the only foil to her plan, she entraps Liu Kang in her hideout and vanishes.
In Kronika’s hideaway, the trapped Liu Kang converses with his foes. Revenant Liu Kang informs him he will use the powers of Shinnok he’s learned to add Liu Kang’s soul to his own for vengeance upon Raiden.
With Kharon as ferry on his many ships, the allies of Outworld and Earthrealm voyage across the Sea of Blood toward Kronika’s Isle, when large battleships come to oppose them, helmed by Frost and Geras. They’re able to narrowly avoid the battleships as they try to ram Raiden and company. Raiden takes out many Cyber clones as they begin to board the ship and stop the gang. He pauses as he sees older Jax come aboard. Jax claims he doesn’t wish to fight, but does so anyway for what he thinks is his daughter’s best interest.
Raiden offers help to Jax, telling him of Kronika’s motherhood to Shinnok, the man who made Jax a Revenant. Jax then sees the error of trusting Kronika and rejoins Raiden’s army, turning on the Cyber soldiers.
Geras then jumps aboard the ship to take on the thunder god, a mighty foe. Upon defeat of Geras, as he cannot be killed, Raiden instead drowns him with an anchor in the Sea of Blood, a bottomless sea where he will fall forever.
The next challenger of Kronika’s to take on Raiden is Frost. Upon her defeat, Raiden uses her mind and his powers to gain control of the Cyber Lin Kuei she has control over through her thoughts. Suddenly, all the Cyber Lin Kuei fall, making the approach to Kronika that much easier.
Meanwhile, Revenant Liu Kang absorbs the soul of his younger counterpart, killing him in the process. He tells Kitana and Kung Lao to command the armies on the beach, while he approaches on his own to take on the thunder god who (in his opinion) killed him.
Taking out Liu Kang, he informs Raiden that to purge him of the darkness within him, he’ll have to kill him. To which Raiden has an alternative plan.
