So I noticed Nightmare pop up after beating the game, so I gave it a try, going through and getting everything I could, though skipped out on the hunter quest since the reward isn't good and doesn't do anything that is too important, mostly a time waster waiting for food to drop.

The change is pretty basic, things do more damage, have more hp, blah.

I decided as well to get the no hit items and doing the main bosses for no hit, which added quite a bit of time before editing it out, like the final boss. The patterns of the bosses are fair, with some being more challenging then others to deal with. Most of the items tend to not be very good, but the hammer from the 3rd boss is pretty top notch, despite the issue of preventing attacks from hitting after getting hit with the blast effect.

Most weapons in the game are pretty lackluster, enemies can move pretty erratic, so short range weapons aren't really useful unless the enemy has a still phase to their pattern, which sucks since the item+ drop weapon is a knife. Usually stick to longer range weapons, though if done wrong, will stunlock you, which even with dodging, can be locked out as well for a bit, making it not very useful.

Overall for progression, the game has a setup to waste your time. For instance, if you go around, marking down interesting spots for later, you can go through all of the forest area and find a darken area. You'll explore all over and waste your time running into dead ends, then you'll proceed back to the other locations you can slide into. You shouldn't really be able to go into the area until you get the lamp from the mines, this could easily be done if the area accessing the forest was in a dark room and not a sliding mechanic. Better progression overall then backtracking after deadend exploring the area.

Drop rates can be quite absurd as well. When I was going to fill out my list for enemy drops, I literally stopped due to the bad drop rate. I'd go in with 60-70 luck with a luck stroll when I could with increased drop rate with the knife, either repeats of an item I already have or nothing drops after 50+ kills. No achievement attached and not really worth it. If ya get lucky, it's awesome, but the drop rates just aren't worth wasting time over, go for a no hit boss kill over farming.

Only one I'd say to farm would be gold bars, which you only need 3 to drop, since the hammer you can craft is just awesome. The range on it is quite fantastic and it overpowers most weapons, well worth getting.

Overall though, game has a lot of running back and forth, enemies are pretty similar in design and dealt in similar ways, outside of bad map design where you can't even get close enough to actually hit them without consequence. Pretty boring at a certain. Magic is ok, but most are underwelming and not really worth using like the axe. Only really used Boomerang, dagger and Shuriken when I'd fight enemies at an angle, so like 2 bosses. Get it on sale.
