AstroViking is my second female protagonist rogue-like game for the day and it's a bullet hell shoot'em up.

It's setting is a little weird in that you are a female Viking who appears to run around in space punching and shooting invading aliens. I wonder what lead to this cacophony of ideas? Doesn't matter as long as it's fun and....(drum roll).....it is! Pretty simple shooter fun but fun non the less.
It does add to the simple shooter concept with a nice upgrade system. At the end of each round you can spend your score on upgrades to your female Viking from bullet enhancements to special power upgrades of which you have two. One is a forward dash that will damage enemies and the second is a vortex that will suck in the invaders and damage them with the right upgrades.

As I said earlier it is a rogue-like in that you have insta-death, so the aim of the game is to beat your highest level. It has online leader boards where I am currently positioned as having made level 18, not too bad for a newbie! At the end of each round you are given one full heart of healing with your character having a total of four. If you need more you can also buy them at the end of each round but the price increases each time you buy one, so use this wisely.

My only complaint was the music can get a little annoying and there is no way to turn it off or down individually.

Basically it is a well made but simple shoot'em up that is priced very cheaply at $3 making it a nice little find and it's good for an hour or two of fun. I played it for just over an hour for the video but the recording messed up so I quickly played another round. You will see the game suddenly begin again at the 10 minute mark and I amazingly become really good at it, that's why. ;) The first 10 minutes were from my first time so I left them in because they show the tutorial.
