My missed tactic was playing 4. ... d6 instead of 4. ... Nf7 (which would have won me the rook, at least.

But I still really took advantage of his queen being so vulnerable in the middle of the board (a lot of moves I made were with tempo) and I punished him for not developing and leaving his king in the center of the board (checkmate).
