To celebrate the launch, the game will be available with a special 30% discount on the Google Play Store for a limited time, and will also be accessible to Google Play Pass subscribers.
This expansion to mobile marks a significant milestone for the Brazilian studio, made possible by crucial support from the Google Indie Games Fund, an initiative designed to foster promising developers in Latin America.
At its core, Chessarama uses chess pieces and their established move sets, then reimagines their goals and themes across eight exclusive single-player variants. Here, players leave checkmate behind and instead prepare to:
Slay a mighty dragon by advancing a pawn to the end of the board in Dragon Slayer.
Position their pieces tactically to score the winning goal in Soccer Chess.
Guide the powerful Queen to assassinate a rival Shogun in the feudal Japan-set Lady Ronin.
And master several other original chess-inspired puzzle games!
"Chess has a perfect set of rules, and our central idea was to see how far we could stretch them to create entirely new puzzle experiences," said Raphael Dias, CEO and Game Director at Minimol Games.
The game is designed to appeal to all puzzle fans, regardless of their chess skill level. While chess veterans will find a deep strategic challenge in optimizing their moves for the leaderboards, new players will have a fun, intuitive way to learn the intricacies of chess tactics and strategy.
