Hey Guys, you're back at ClevverMovies with the latest casting news for MGM's "Robocop." With the studio's financial fiasco finally put to rest, MGM is now focusing on all the remakes and sequels they've had in the pipeline.

One of those projects with high priority is Robocop, and MGM has its eye on Chris Pine to play the lead. Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp and Keanu Reeves were reportedly being considered for the role. Now it looks like the studio is leaning toward a younger leading man in hopes of gaining a younger audience.

We hear this version of Robocop will be grittier than the original with a more realistic approach to violence. No word yet on when production will start, but the film is slated to hit theaters in 2013 with José Padilha directing.

An official offer has not been made to get Pine on board, but hes the studios top choice and we will keep you posted! Who would you cast as the lead? Does the Star Trek actor fit the bill or would you pick someone else? Let us know by commenting below, and be sure to stay right here on ClevverMovies for the latest movie news.
