How To Add A Webpage ShortCut To The Chrome OS Toolbar / Apps Tray

Navigate to the website you wish to add to your tool bar in the Chrome Browser.
Click on the menu with the three dots in the top right hand corner.
Click on “Create Shortcut.”
Name your shortcut and hit “Create.”

Once your shortcut is created, it will appear in the Apps Drawer but also in your Tool Bar.

You also move your shortcut around in your Tool Bar.

When you open the shortcut, it opens the web page. Web Pages like messages.android.com show up in a browser but look like app. These are called Progressive Web Apps because they look and behave like apps stored locally, but they are stored on the internet.

A future benefit of this could be smaller and lighter devices because data from apps would be stored on the internet instead of on your device.

So If you’re looking to save space on your Chromebook, instead of downloading apps from the Playstore, visit their web pages, and create shortcuts!
