I would like to take a moment to talk about our dear Toriyama-sensei
When I found out that he passed away this morning I was filled with grief. I still haven't processed it all and I don't think I will ever get used to a world where Akira Toriyama no longer walks among us.
I first came in contact with his work on Chrono Trigger. I loved the character designs and thought they looked super sugoi. I had never seen anything like it before. Little did I know that this man would change my life forever.
I didn't start reading his most famous work, Dragon Ball, until the winter of 2000, when I first saw the manga in my school library. I had heard the name before but this was the first time I ever saw anything from it, and as soon as I saw the character designs on the cover I gasped! "These character designs! I've seen them before!" I exclaimed. I then knew I had to read them all. I was able to borrow the first 10 volumes of Dragon Ball and take them home with me that day, and for the rest of the night I was reading, what could be considered, Toriyama-sensei's Magnum Opus.
I was hooked immediately. The story, the comedy, the action, the characters, the story! All of them were amazing and I could not get enough of it. It wasn't long after that I had successfully read though the whole series. While Naruto is the best manga of all time and my personal favorite, Dragon Ball is VERY close to that spot.
If it wasn't for Masashi Kishimoto and Akira Toriyama, I would've never found my true self, and SephirothSword57 would never exist. I owe my life and my passion for art to Toriyama-sensei
Arigatou gozaimashita, Toriyama-sensei for all the sugoi memories you gave me. I will never forget you.
