Chrono Trigger Part 1: An RPG That Goes Back to the Future!
1In this episode, we begin play on a game that Patrick has never played, because he never owned a Super Nintendo. However, this game is on enough "Best Of" lists that it must be played. Walkthrough use will be kept to a minimum, usually only as a guide when it becomes an exercise in walking in circles, so don't expect optimized play.

We begin in the year 1000, and Chrono is going to a fair to celebrate peace after a year 400 years prior. After wandering around for loot, he goes to the actual fair. After some equipment upgrades, he bumps into Marle while wandering the fair, and picks up a "girlfriend" in the process. Hilarity ensues until they go to check out an invention by his fried Lucca. It flings Marle through a time portal. Chrono follows.
We end up in the year 600, and the war is on. The bridge south is gone, Chrono no longer has a house, and there's some weird things going down at a cathedral. Going to the castle, Chrono finds the "queen" seems to know him. The queen is actually Marle, who they mistook for their queen, who went missing. Then she disappears again.
In the process of trying to GTFO, Lucca appears, springs out the plot of "Back to the Future", and that Marle is actually the princess and descendant of the queen (which explains the confusion).
We leave our party running from the castle to look for the queen before it's too late.
