Our heroes leave the castle behind to go to the cathedral where they were a little giggly and half as scary as some churches in the real world... And the nuns turned into snakes. We are joined by a frog named Frog. Because reasons.
We cut our way thorugh the cathedral and resuce the queen, after discovering the chancellor is actually a fake, and is a boss fight in Yakara. Luckily, we also discover that you can revive people mid-battle in this game (as we last played the original Final Fantasy). Yakara goes down, and the queen is returned. We collect Marle AKA Princess Nadia and return to the present because Lucca's a techno-wiz. There, Chrono and Marle go back to the castle, where the screw job commences, and we get to see the results of the Patriot Act, which has apparently been passed here too.
Chrono is put on trial, for being a terrorist who kidnapped the princess, and because the game lets you do stupid things without any warning, he is found guilty and sentenced to death. Because apparently, the court doesn't listen to the "abductee" and finds people guilty anyway.
We leave Chrono in a cell, ready to DIIIIEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!
