CiB Game Boy Theater - Double Dribble and Looney Tunes (Episode 65)
The Original Game Boy is one of the biggest 'game changers' in the history of video games, and essentially ushered in the popularity of handheld games. There are many games that will be classic forever. There are, however, a much, much higher number of simply awful, forgettable, or downright weird games. CiB Game Boy Theater shows you some of the games you might not (and shouldn't be...) familiar with.
Oh great, another sports game on Game Boy that really tries to up the ante, and ends up being an unplayable mess. I love this re-run! I am once again certain that Double Dribble looked fantastic and wowed back in the early 90s, but the graphical improvements they made makes the game essentially unplayable. The dunk animations are amazing, but I can't even shoot the ball....
There was a time where almost every Looney Tunes/Tiny Toons game that came out was, at the very least, a satisfying game, and Looney Tunes on Game Boy is no different. It's a no-frills side-scroller, but isn't that what we love to see on the Game Boy? It's amazing; after playing well over 100 games, it's the simple (FUN!!!) ones that resonate the best nowadays. This is easily a top 15 game that we've seen so far. Thanks for watching!
