CiB Game Boy Theater - Mickey's Dangerous Chage and WWF War Zone (Episode 28)
The Original Game Boy is one of the biggest 'game changers' in the history of video games, and essentially ushered in the popularity of handheld games. There are many games that will be classic forever. There are, however, a much, much higher number of simply awful, forgettable, or downright weird games. CiB Game Boy Theater shows you some of the games you might not (and shouldn't be...) familiar with.
I must admit, my initial reaction to Mickey's Dangerous Chase (as you can hear in the video) was that it is terrible --- but then, the GLORIOUS box-picking-up-discovery happened. YEAH! TAKE THAT DOGS! TAKE THAT BATS! BOOOOOM!
It's a platformer. It starts out super easy and gets somewhat tougher (at least on a sight-play standpoint), and it's honestly fun. It's pretty easy to say this is one of the better games we have played on Game Boy Theater. Awesome!
WWF War Zone is... not one of the better games we have played on Game Boy Theater. Any time you take something as technical as wrestling, and limit it to 2 buttons, you're gonna have a bad time. And that's what I had - a bad time.
I can't even tell if any of the wrestlers have their own unique moves - it's not obvious how to do... anything. Big roster yes, graphics are actually not terrible, and even a tiny little story mode... those are all good things, but it doesn't help the overall game out. Will we play a good handheld wrestling? All signs point to 'No'.
