CiB Let's Try - GunBird 2 (Dreamcast)
GunBird 2 was released in arcades in 1998, then ported to the Dreamcast as a console exclusive on November 15, 2000. It was developed by Psikyo (who also developed Cannon Spike, which we played just recently), and published by Capcom.
Hey look, its another arcade port that could really only ever have been released on the Dreamcast! We mention it in this video but -- I think this is a really solid arcade port. It's fun, it plays well, and it has (at least) 4 different characters you can choose from. There definitely is some replayability, and we did play it on the easiest setting.
That being said, imagine getting a Dreamcast in 2000, and this being the only game that you got. I can't imagine putting more than an hour into this game at a time. There's a reason arcade games are made the way they are -- hardcore and short -- you're not supposed to spend hours in front of a singular arcade machine. That's why arcade ports to console in the early 2000s are always so interesting to me -- unless they add a bunch of extra options, you do by nature have a fairly limiting game.
That being said, House of the Dead 2 is probably my most played Dreamcast game of all-time, so maybe I'm just blowing hot air. Regardless, very fun, funny, cool arcade port here -- we recommend it! Just not on the arcade / sideways mode. Thanks for watching!
