CiB Let's Try - Night Creatures (Turbografx-16)
Night Creatures was released as a Turbografx-16 exclusive, apparently in 1992. I expected this game to be a very early TG16 release, but if it's as late as 1992... oof.
It was developed by Manley & Associates Inc (which later became Electronic Arts Seattle) - they also developed Pink Goes to Hollywood, and some of the earlier Need For Speed games. Night Creatures was published by NEC themselves.
I've been going through Turbografx-16 games and picking ones that I've never heard of. We got lucky last time with Bloody Wolf, which was a pretty solid Contra/Ikari Warriors clonse. Night Creatures is like taking Frankenstein (NES) and Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (NES) and mashing them together. The results, unsurprising, are awful.
I don't really like anything about Night Creatures at all. The graphics are really bad for 1992, the control is bad, and the hit detection is truly terrible. Worst of all, it's a simple side-scroller that seems to change its rules every single screen. You can safely avoid this game. Thanks for watching!
