CiB Let's Try - Spawn: The Eternal (PS1)
Spawn: The Eternal was released as a PS1 exclusive on December 9, 1997. It was developed by Sony Interactive Studios America (formerly 989 Studios), and published by Sony themselves. 989 Studios was probably best known for Twisted Metal 1 and 2, as well as a ton of sports games on the PS1.
Since the PS1 was such a relatively long-lasting system, releasing in late 1995, and pumping out games for a decade, I pretty much use the release of Final Fantasy VII as the dividing line between 'devs were still figuring out how to utilize the system' and 'okay this better be good'.
Unfortunately, since Spawn came out almost a year after FF7, it gets no slack from me here. If Spawn: The Eternal was a 1995 release, I would give it some slack, but for a late 1997 game, this is slow, choppy, ugly, and just not very fun.
We apologize that we couldn't figure out how to use all the items we collected, but the lack of checkpoints is brutal regardless of how you look at it. You can safely skip this game. Thanks for watching!
