CiB Let's Try - Tekken (PS1)
The original Tekken was released in arcades in 1994, then ported to the Playstation as a console exclusive on November 8, 1995, making it a pretty early PS1 release. As with all Tekken games, it was developed and published by Namco.
I've never played the original Tekken - as we've said many times, we're not huge fighting game fans, so some of the more nuanced parts of fighting games may be lost on us.
That being said, this is a very, very bare-bones fighting game. It pretty much just has standard 1P (Arcade) and 2P (VS) fighting modes, and that's about all you get. The gameplay is rather slow and limited, even compared to Tekken 2 and 3, which were also on the PS1.
You can definitely tell that they had a solid core here with Tekken 1, and I can't imagine how impressed I would have been with the graphics back in 1995, but this is one you can safely avoid unless you're a collector, or someone who wants to see how far fighting games have come. Thanks for watching!
