4The Phillips CD-i, released in 1991 for almost $1000, was supposed to be the next big thing in video games. It was one of the first systems that used CD technology, so surely, this would be all the rage, right?
With a library of games that have so little gameplay that they barely count as games, a frustrating controller, and no big system-sellers, it's no wonder the system failed. Now, we are here to bring you a lot of CD-i games you haven't seen - this is the bottom of the barrel, folks - it doesn't get much worse than this.
Up first, we have The Wacky World of Miniature Golf Starring Eugene Levy. This is the first CD-i 'game' I ever played. I'm going to be using quotes a lot, because there is almost no gameplay for many of these games ---- this one included.
Filled with that glorious early 90s '''humor''' (was it even funny back then?), MS Paint level graphics, and literally, and I mean literally no gameplay - what's there to love? Strap in, folks. CD-i is going to be like this a lot. Thanks for watching!
