CLASSIC SEASON, MODERN POINTS! Calculating the 1997 F1 Season using the 2023 Points System
This was just a random idea I had this morning. Others have done a what if, but none have looked at it with all the results on the screen. Wikipedia has been a godsend for this little project.
It's interesting to see how many more points the backmarker teams have gained, and two or three drivers will lose out if the system rewarded consistency rather than just allowing you to catch up if you had a DNF in a previous round. It was easier to overhaul points gaps back then.
But anyway, let's see how this all looks once we've applied modern scoring to a classic season.
Enjoy! And remember to like and subscribe for more!
