Ori and the Blind Forest is a Metroidvania game developed by Moon Studios, an independent developer from Austria, and published by Microsoft Studios.
Spoiler!
The player controls Ori, a white spirit guardian of the forest. Long ago, Ori was separated from the Spirit Tree in a storm that set off a chain of devastating events. He was adopted and raised by the bear-like creature Naru. The prologue shows how, many years later, the Spirit Tree calls to Ori, and subsequently, the Nibel Forest (where the game takes place) is dying. Naru dies due to a lack of food, leaving Ori an orphan again. Filled with grief and hopeless, Ori goes out into the forest until his powers fail him and he dies. With his last remaining strength, the Spirit Tree revives Ori, so he embarks on a quest whose goal is to restore the Nibel Forest to its former glory. Right at the beginning, Ori encounters a being of light named Sein, who reveals himself as the light and eyes of the Spirit Tree and guides and protects Ori on his quest. Ori is initially very weak and cannot attack enemies himself, so Sein takes over this role. Over the course of the adventure, Ori gains more and more abilities, making it possible to explore new areas.
