Computer: Dell XPS 435MT
Subject: Clearing the CMOS

Clearing the CMOS is sometimes necessary if your BIOS gets corrupted. If this does happen for whatever reason, your computer will be rendered worthless. You cannot do anything with it, because it will not boot up. There are various ways a BIOS can get corrupted, you could get a virus in your BIOS when you try to flash a BIOS with a virus in it, you can get a bad BIOS flash file, or you try to flash your BIOS when you have a power outage. In any of these cases, your computer will not boot up.
In order to fix this, you have to open up your computer and clear your bios. You need to refer to your manual and locate where the CMOS pins and jumper are located. Follow the instructions and clear the CMOS. When you clear the CMOS, it should restore your BIOS to its original condition.
