The very first Wolfenstein game that I played was back in 1984 on a Apple II computer. I didn't buy the game, I got the game when my parents bought me the computer from someone they knew. I got a whole bunch of games with my Apple IIc, and Wolfenstein was one of those games I received. I just played the game for a few minutes and I stopped playing it. It wasn't something a 9 year old would enjoy playing. The game had stick figure graphics kind of like Bezerk for the Atari 2600. You would basically move around killing Nazis, not unlike all the other Wolfenstein games that were released.
Wolfenstein really became a popular game in 1992 with the release of Wolfenstein 3d. The game was the first 3d shooter ever made, and it was released for MS-DOS. It resembled a 3d shooter, but you couldn't use mouse controls to look around. ID Software released a host of other 3d shooters, like Doom, Quake, and Hexen to name a few. However, those never became successful, like Wolfenstein. Many Wolfenstein titles were released, you had the various add-ons for Wolfenstein 3d, Return to Castle Wolfenstein 2001, Wolfenstein 2009, Wolfenstein: The New Order 2014, and Wolfenstein The Colossus 2017. The Wolfenstein franchise started in 1992 and survived to this day, and that is quite an achievement. ID was the company that pioneered 3d shooters, and it made the best 3d shooters in 2017.
As for Wolfenstein: The New Order, I was impressed with the graphics and the smoothness of the game flow. The game itself plays like an interactive movie, and it is very suspenseful. Throughout all these years, this game is still fun even at my age. Isn't that ironic, ID Software was the first game company to pioneer 3d shooters, and it makes the best 3d shooters even today!
In the future, I will make more Wolfenstein videos from its earliest renditions to its present form.
