Clive and Wrench - slightly cursed banjo kazooie (teddyras)
5This was a game that I wishlisted and picked up under the assumption that it would be bad in a fun way, but unfortunately it was just mildly stinky. The trailers and whatnot that I saw of it like a year or two before it came out made me think, oh yeah, this might be some good kuso, might be cursed, but I was wrong. The game I ended up playing was just an overpriced really ok game. The levels weren't very fun, the theming was also pretty much nothing, the character designs were passable, but they were all competent. The execution wasn't really done poorly, it just wasn't done well either. In the end it just ends up being boring with very slight problems in design and not good enough ideas for game and level design in worlds that are usually too big for their own good. Conceptually a lot of things probably should have been changed early in preproduction or production to make it more interesting and less like a weird game with gex style theming and knock off banjo kazooie protagonists. Also it didn't do what a lot of genre tribute games or fan tribute games do and that's do its own thing while clearly being inspired by the older works. Instead it just felt like a 2nd or 3rd banana collectathon from the 90s that would only have been notable for the game's size. This game's ok, but there's just better stuff out there, so like get it if you like, but you could get like 2 better games in the same genre on steam for this game's price (or all the 90's collectathons for free online).
