While Clock Tower II The Struggle Within was lackluster and not great, this is a bit of a return to form. It doesn't continue Jennifer's story, but starts its own lore once again. You are Alyssa, not the same one from the last game though, a different Alyssa who comes from a long line of time witch hunters, or something. I really only played the other Clock Tower games because for years I have wanted to play this one. Turns out I didn't need to do that, but am still happy I did.This does something like Clock Tower II in that you aren't chased by 1 antagonist, but a new one each chapter. You are hdidng and running in this, but you have a fear gauge and when it fills up things get crazy. You run, you trip, you fall, you become super hard to control. It's rough. You do get some items that can help stun your pursuer and you get some drugs to calm your mood. It's an interesting idea at the least. At the end of each scenario you fight a boss and can actually attack them because you take on some sort of warrior form. The gimmick is the same for all the fights, you try and tether the boss long enough for you to charge up a super shot to do big damage. Most of the boss encounters are super easy. The final boss on the other hand is a serious slog. The levels are cool and fun and spooky to wander around in. The story is interesting though, holy crap, the voice acting in this game is something special. It feels very uncanny valley, which is weird to say about voice acting. Even the Japanese voices seem out of place for what the characters are doing. Great for the memes. It's a pretty fun game. Enjoy my blind playthrough.
