After the first 2 Clock Tower games I kinda had higher expectations. I really liked the others, this one is special. This game is way more tedious than any of the others and that reason is because of the games main gimmick. This isn't a direct sequel like the PS1 game is to the SNES. This is its own beast and therefore does its own thing. So the premise in this game is that you are Alyssa and you have a split personality named Bates. Bates can use a gun. This is the first time in the series you can shoot things. I guess they wanted to be more like Resident Evil which was insanely popular at the time. The problem with having 2 personalities is that you have to explore everywhere with each one. So the game is essentially twice as large as it seems. There are objects only Alyssa can interact with and some only Bates can. There's 3 acts with each area you can explore getting larger. The final facility is crazy convoluted and takes forever to figure out. You can also get all the way through the game and into Act 3 and hit a dead end, so to speak. The game gives hints along the way and you can use those to make progress. When you get into Act 3 you get a hint for Act 1 which you then have to go all the way back from the beginning of the game to make progress again. The other Clock Tower games did this as well, but it's way more tedious this time. The mechanics are kind of the same. You have a unique stalker for each Act rather than 1 that chases you through the whole game. The endings are also a bit of a let down as well and are really silly. I honestly wasn't that much of a fan of this one. Enjoy my blind playthrough.
