CO-OP 01.Summit-Checkpoint Security - as Commander: INSURGENCY SANDSTORM [PC]
Insurgency: SANDSTORM [PC]
CO-OP: Checkpoint Security
Map: Summit
This is one of my better runs as Commander in the game, especially in a map of randoms that don't communicate via voice chat. I die twice from silly delayed reactions, and it happens to everyone in this game.
I honestly prefer the Security forces as Commander just because the support is so overpowered and awesome. The Insurgents have weird things like homemade explosive drones.... I'm still trying to wrap my head around how to use those effectively
If you're unfamiliar with the unit structure of Insurgency: SANDSTORM, the different classes have weapon restrictions... all loadouts and attachments are selectable from a pool of weapons suitable to that class. The Commander is the only unit that can call in tactical support like artillery, but that is only possible if another person is playing the Observer class, who is essentially a comms guy that relays the Commanders request (automatically). Support can only be called in when within shouting range of an Observer.... and obviously if the Observer(s) has died, no support.
You'll notice I switch to Commander at the first objective, because it is only then that I noticed someone had opted to go Observer.
I highly recommend this game. It's brutal and unforgiving, and very satisfying when you win. The weapons require real skill to handle (varying recoil/kick, actual bullet drop over distance, calibre-vs-material-penetration, etc). It has its issues like any game, but its well supported by a dedicated dev team that is committed to giving the game at least as long a lifespan as the first Insurgency... unlike some AAA trash franchises that get vomited out on a yearly basis for top $$$... ahem.
