CoCo Cosmic Aliens 0.19 preview - putting it all together
11So the pieces are coming together nicely! I have incorporated the meteor shower "asteroids" round into the main game loop. At the moment, you'll have to clear 2 aliens rounds, and then get to the meteors.
I've made an initial decision to have the meteor shower last about two minutes. You have two objectives: Stay alive, and, shoot UFOs for points.
At the end of the round, you'll be told you survived, and be awarded a bonus for the number of aliens you hit, it would be hits x 100, so 3 hits would be a 300 point bonus.
I have moved the extra life detection routine out of the main game loop, and added to any routine that adds points to your score, this added the advantage of you having the ability of getting an extra life while in the meteor shower, as lives become more important there.
Overall things "feel" pretty good, and I now think I want to go back to the drawing board on the aliens routine and implement the "master table" concept that's been in my mind. I knew that was "The way" to go, but avoided it to make more progress on actual features. I think we're at the point now to do it, and hopefully get significant speed boosts from the game?
