You've probably stumbles across the Dog Houses on the MW3 Zombies map already, but you may not have known what they were for and how to use them.
If you manage to get a "Chunk of Flesh" by killing a Zombies (which is very rare, and I'm not sure if shooting the zombies or blowing them up is best), you can visit one of the randomly spawning Dog Houses, interact with it, deposit the Zombie Meat, and you'll be rewarded with your very own pet Hell-Hound, who'll follow you around killing enemies.
In my experience, having a companion friendly Dog worked best against the Mercenary NPCs - the Hell Hound helped me clear out a Mercenary Stronghold, defend it as I drilled and cracked the safe, and also helped me to complete a "Defend The Ground Station" Mission, all my myself solo!
