Since May 2022 public multiplayer is broken in Call of Duty Infinite Warefare. Zombies mode still works though.

As soon as enough players are gathered in the lobby and the match is about to start, game will kick you - and everyone else - out of the lobby. The error message tells you that your level fastfile is different to the server one. As everyone on Steam has this issue (it is said that Windows Store version does work) it seems that Activision forgot to roll out a crucial update to Steam users.

0:40 - TDM public without host --- fastfile error
2:50 - TDM public without host --- fastfile error
6:40 - TDM public with host (peer to peer) --- no error for non-hosts, fastfile for host, all kicked

I recorded this for reporting it to the publisher.
