Welcome back to the channel, dear gamers. 2025 has begun and with it, a new cycle of old and new gaming gems on this channel. Regardless, with everything i have prepared for this year, i implore you to sit back, relax and enjoy as we kick the year off with underrated and often forgotten survival horror classic, Cold Fear. Enjoy the gameplay.
About Game: Cold Fear is 2005 Survival Horror video game with Third-Person Shooter elements developed by Darkworks and published by Ubisoft for PlayStation 2, Xbox and Windows-based PCs. Released as Darkworks' second game after 2001's Alone In The Dark: The New Nightmare, Cold Fear attracted attention for its highly detailed physics and realistic animations upon being announced at 2004 edition of E3. However, upon its release, reception was more subdued as critics praised the game's detailed environments and opening sequences but criticized rushed storyline and short length, with many critics comparing it unfavorably to Resident Evil 4, released only two months before Cold Fear. To add insult to the mixed reception, Cold Fear was a commercial failure, having sold only about 70,000 copies across all platforms within a year of release, cementing its legacy as ambitious but ultimately failed video game. However, retroactive consensus has turned Cold Fear into something of a cult clsssic among modern gamers, despite the game being unlikely to ever resurface in the modern gaming and being mostly forgotten.
Story follows Tom Hansen, American ex-Special Forces operative-turned Coast Guard member whose crew answers a distress signal sent from Eastern Spirit, Russian whaler floating in the middle of a storm in Bering Strait. With Navy SEALs team sent in to search the ship having been ambushed and massacred by mysterious creatures soon after boarding, their handlers call in any other American vessel in the area to find out what happened with USS Ravenswood, Hansen's ship, answering. However, as Hansen and the rest of Ravenswood crew boards the Eastern Spirit, they quickly end up separated with Hansen, who infiltrated the ship via rear deck, hearing his teamates engaging someone or something before their communications cut out as they are massacred. Knowing that he'll need an electronic key secured by Ravenswood captain named Lansing to progress deeper into the ship, Hansen enters its interior and is quickly attacked by the Eastern Spirit's crew who appear to be too horrified for any kind of negotiation, forcing Hansen to kill them. As he continues on, Hansen finds the ship's interior litered with corpses, indicating that someone or something massacred as most of the crew members. After making his way to the front deck of the ship and entering the crew's sleeping quarters, Hansen discovers Lansing's horrifically mutilated remains on the toilet, but proceeds to collect the electronic key. As he turns to leave, Hansen sees a horrifically injured crew member with his entire lower half torn off crawling towards him while begging for help before a monster resembling another crew member comes up behind him and kills him, forcing Hansen to fend the monster off before exiting back onto the front deck...
