EULA
i provide guide lines for installation . be sure to read
the user manual too.
You take full responsibility for your machine\hardware
and software use,.. before\during\after installation .
EULA

see part 1 for additional into

Yes, the HDMI out of the PC is going into the " Colossus 2"
HDMI ,.. all on the same PC .

shut down windows

wait for PC activity to stop( look at the power light )

Unplug power cord

and wait .
remove the case panel while waiting .
touch the PC case for any static discharge .
only hold onto the card via the header bracket.
Do NOT touch any pins on the card .
for balance , place finger on an Edge of the card .
now Install Colossus 2 , card .
Do NOT plug PC video out , into Colossus 2 , NOT just yet .
plug power cord in .
turn on power supply switch .
Wait a few seconds for the power supply
caps to take on charge.
Press power button to boot to desktop .

WinTv8 is not required, but Capture install is a must.
Capture install , installs "Colossus 2" drivers.
after install , reboot and open Hauppauge Capture
to see that it can find Colossus 2 .( give it a few seconds )
On the Capture Tab there is a status box of the device found .

go easy on any setting's changes .,... Capture may hang .
i make a change , wait ,.. then close Capture , then re-open
Capture to see that the changes worked.

***** *****
It is highly recommended that the PC desktop res is set to only
1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 , before running the PC video into
the Colossus 2 .
***** *****

Now that Capture utility finds Colossus 2 , shut down windows
and power down again
review power down procedure above if needed .
turn of power supply switch , power down\OFF monitor\TV too .
i do NOT hot swap
HDMI cables in\out of powered up ports .
( except for USB ports , and HDMI ain't USB )

*****
be sure to follow the above power down practices as *****
described above before continuing .

power down\OFF monitor\TV too . *****

Now , plug PC HDMI video out , into Colossus 2 ,
plug Colossus 2 , pass thru output , into monitor\TV .
verify in\out ports of the Colossus 2 header bracket .
( paper user manual shows a picture of the header bracket )

On this first boot , the monitor\TV may not
show the start up screens at BIOS. log on as usual
and let it boot to window's log on screen.
( window's log on screen should appear )
If you see Window's log on screen then the Col0ssus 2
is working ,.. your PC video is going thru Colossus 2 .
continue to do a full boot to the desktop here .

The very next time you re-boot and there-after ,
the BIOS and splash screens should appear .

side note:
the "video monitor" as found by Window's is now
HD PVR2 . The PC sees the "Colossus 2" 's
HDMI input port as a\the video monitor .
ALL of the capabilities that are built into the
Colossus 2's HDMI input port becomes
a "virtual monitor" , as seen by the PC .

Capture's Advance Tab
video encode settings.
High profile is needed for 720p and 1080p
level 4.0 supports up to 1920 x 1080 at upto 20 Mbs at 30.1 fps
level 4.1 supports greater then 20 Mbs at 30.1 fps
level 4.2 provides greater then 20 Mbs at 60 fps and with increased
samples during compression.
Since Colossus 2 can only cap at 21 Mbs VBR max and at 30 fps
the level 4.0 is the default .
It may be possible level 4.2 could\can provide better compression
quality , but I can NOT verify that the Colossus 2 can use
all the features of level 4.2 encoding .

the 4 audio check box's :
pc audio boost NOT checked
disable HDMI AC3 NOT checked
multi-track AC3 checked
original AC3 channels to multi-track checked

When capturing with Capture utility or with WinTv8
always MUTE the audio slider( lower right corner )
this will prevent a 2 second delay of audio echo .
The echo will become part of the footage sound track.
( be sure to MUTE )

game audio slider at 50 %
mic slider adjust as needed
pc audio slider at 0 % OFF ( not sure what this does )

i use SPDIF optical audio from onboard realTek sound card.
some games do( i did it ) records with 5.1 dolby audio ,
but only when the audio source is already dolby 5.1 .
You need DDL Dolby Digital Live on the PC's sound card.
( requires Creative SB sound card )
