perfect pixel alignment using HDMI on windows PC with ATI AMD
make all windows fonts and graphics view as pixel perfect.
uploaded at 1920 x 1080 ., . Pause as needed . No audio .
exported .png 1920 x 1080 as un-comp AVI 1920 x 1080.
Then used cyberlink's converter to .m2ts 1920 x 1080
with the OEM LE ver 10.x bundled with LG deck BH16NS40 .
included a 1920 x 1080 RGB test image that I made. Not sure if it will be usefull after the transcode. The original bit map is usefull.
Ok , I'm looking at the desktop and the icon text looks bad.
mis-aligned pixels ? All digital on HDMI . How can that be ?
windows "smooth screen fonts" applies some kind of AA to text.
So, I turned that off.
Also, in the ATI CCC center,.. that scale slider ,....
Set it to 0 % , check box ITC , do NOT check box GPU scalling.
I also used my 1920 x 1080 RGB image to help with adjusting
the physical TV Hor\Ver positions and size. And to verify that
the TV got it right.
Yes, the LED TV now shows perfect pixel alignment .
NOT using any of the windows "clear text" features.
4 big issues:
1. turn OFF "smooth screen fonts" to disable window's AA
2. set the ATI scale slider in CCC center to 0 %
3. ATI\CCC center "Use centered timings" if available
4. adjust the monitor\TV position and size
I now have perfect pixel alignment at
1920 x 1080 ( full screen native res )
1360 x 768 ( less then full screen boarders all the way around )
1280 x 1024 ( less then full screen boarders all the way around )
( boarders are not an issue, when you want best image clarity
at a lower res .\less then native monitor\TV res. )
amusingly , 1280 x 720 ( aka 720p ) by default in the CCC center, is "scale to full panel size" So I can't set it to
"Use centered timings"
1280 x 720 scales to full screen with reduced image clarity .
Not just fonts, but for graphics too.
Just to say, the CCC center can scale 1360 x 768 to full screen,
"Scale image to full panel size" radial button .
But then we're back to blured font text and less image clarity
on the deskTop and for graphics .
I always wondered why my text\fonts looked like crap
on a 1920 x 1080 22" screen .
Wonder no more. Text and graphics are as sharp as
it's gonna get. The only way to get sharper images
is to get a smaller screen or a higher pixel count screen ,
and that ain't gonna happen.
Now,
even the Q950 usb TV tuner looks sharper.
It used to have a slight fuzz to it .
Using hauppauge winTV7 ver 3.2
I still do not understand why ATI scale slider is not
default at 0 % . At less then 0 % , it is impossible to
get perfect pixel alignment,..I tried that too.
Of course, then I had to up the TV size to 25 by 25
to get back to full screen at 1920 x 1080,
but the pixel alignment was off,
and not due to window's AA , because I already disabled
"smooth edge of screen fonts" .
Tutorial has font , ATI CCC , and window's
screen shots , with descriptive text.
