In this video I do an unboxing, review and very in-depth test of the Comica CVM-VM10 Micro Compact Directional Condenser Shotgun Video MIcrophone.
The test consists of two indoor versions, one in a close mid mic position, typical of vlogging, podcasting or any scenario where you don't mind the mic in shot and another coming in over the top just outside the frame in a typical boom position. All indoor and outdoor examples use a Sony AX100 camcorder fro the camcorder examples.
The outside tests consist of four parts. First test, mounted on camera with the supplied deadcat. Second test, used in a hand held position in a modified hand held mic body. Third test, the same hand held configuration but connected via wireless using the RODELink wireless system. Fourth test, connected to a Google Pixel Android Smartphone via the TRRS headphone/microphone 3.5mm analogue input.
I'm very impressed with this microphone and will be doing an A/B soon with the Rode VideoMicro, which so far, is my favourite and best Micro Video Microphone.
The version of the Comica VM10 that I use in this test, is the MK1 version. This is the exact same mic as the Comica CVM-VM10 II, the only difference is the supplied microphone suspension mount.
I will also be doing a video soon showing the Comica VM10, Boya BY-MM1 & Rode VideoMicro being used connected to a three axis gimble. This way of connecting allows the mic to track with the phone and doesn't upset the balance or centre of gravity of the gimble, I use a Zhiyun Smooth Q.
