This is one of my preliminary tests with the Rode RodeLink FilmMaker Kit wireless audio system. My prelim tests are usually unpublished videos that I use for my own evaluation purposes before making a full youtube video. Soetimes, as in this instance, I make the preliminary test videos public as they may be interesting to others.
In this prelim I basically unboxed the RodeLink, grabbed a bunch of mics and was out testing the RodeLink within half an hour of receiving it. So this test is about as real world as it gets.
Although the RodeLink comes with its own Rode Lavalier, for my use I want to see how well the transmitter and receiver work with various lavalier microphones, hand held mics and shotgun microphones by other manufacturers. So for this test I tried it out with six different lav mics and three hand held mics.
I have to say that I'm absolutely blown away by the quality and versatility of the RodeLink with this first test.
Although this is a very long test with me just talking about the various mics and some tec stuff in order to test for dialogue etc., it may be of interest to others who are thinking about buying the RodeLink or those interested in how it works with the mics used, as they may be using one of the mics in the test.
I will be doing a whole bunch of short specific videos about the RodeLink by pairing it up with one specific mic and will try it out with a Smartphone and maybe an action camera.
Below is a list of the mics used and the point of the video where they are tested.
