In the video I test the mic on a boom and then in a typical desk mount position. These two recordings sound unbelievable for such a cheap mic. I will be doing a full on test of this mic, indoors and outdoors and also in both its normal and tele positions. Tele is basically a high gain mode.
In the video I'm plugging the mic straight into my Sony FDR-AX100 camcorder with no external pre-amp. In the edit I'm just levelling the takes with no processing what so ever. Basically, what you hear in the video is exactly how this microphone sounds.
The mic is an electret condenser type, which is self powered by inserting an AA battery. The mic also has a cardioid pick up pattern.
Even after just this quick test I'll be doing my full review based on this microphone being the best cheap condenser microphone available.
This microphone also goes by the name Neewer 14.17inch & Neewer 14.37inch microphone. I can't say for sure, as these, things aren't usually made clear but I think they're all the same NW-81 microphone.
Also. This microphone is quite often referred to as a Neewer Shotgun microphone or Neewer Stereo Shotgun microphone. Both of these descriptions are wrong. Although it would appear that it's re-sellers who brand them this way and not Neewer themselves. Or at least Neewer don't call it a shotgun or stereo microphone on the box that I received.
Anyway. The video does a far better job of describing this microphone and the ridiculously insane amount of stuff that comes with it.
