You start off with just the commando but you can get a group of rocket soldiers and a pair of engineers and you will absolutely need all of those in order to capture and then maintain your base and defend against early enemy attacks of infantry and tanks before you can grow your forces and siege the enemy base.
Park in front on a tiberium field, destroy their harvesters and drain their economy then bust through.
