Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn - Covert Operations 2nd Playthrough - GDI - Twist Of Fate
This did take longer, but for good reasons. I didn't sandbag the enemy in their own base this time round.
In fact the only Sandbagging I do is to place an AGT away from my base.
I also only speed up the game once, for one Ion Cannon strike. Anyway on to the main description...
Turn the game speed down at first and group the two Mammoths, and the two Orcas in another group. Everything else should be sent back to the Helipads, apart from the Medium Tank by the Recon Bikes.
Target the Light Tank with the Orcas and the Flame Tank with the Medium Tank to soften both up.
With the Mammoths, get close to the Rocket Soldiers, turn around quick and back to fire your missiles at them and kill them. Do this for every Rocket Soldier than kill the Light Tank and Flame Tank. You should have now saved these two Mammoths.
With your APC & Humvees approach the middle of the field just south of the Mammoths (I prefer these because they'll take less hits) and attack the Stealth Tanks, backing up your Vehicles with the Orcas.
The MCV should arrive soon, and only a couple of Light Tanks to worry about, your Orcas can mop them up.
If you can, try to get the Mammoths to take out the Apache (it comes out to you if you're too near the nearby base). They don't retrain them on this level.
Turn your game speed to near your normal level now.
Bring your MCV to the flare and start by gathering Tiberium form the field just to the north, I prefer to start here, because it will be unavailable as soon as the units start pouring in.
4 AGTs backed up by the two Mammoths and any infantry and Medium tanks that survived should suffice.
You can use the Orcas for any Flame Tanks, and the Humvees should scout to the north of the main base in the south west.
You want to get working on a second MCV to be placed near where your first arrived.
The bulk of the tiberium is around here, but the area is too small for a full base to start off with.
Place the two Mammoths near the ridge in the south west, overlooking a tiberium field to the east.
You'll take potshots at Harvesters.
If they decide to go to the northern field, you've got it scouted out for later.
With your northern expansion, you'll want to start cracking the close base.
Ion Cannon will probably be ready before you're set up here, so take out the Obelisk in this base by aiming at the top of it (one square above the base), it's the only way to take it out in one hit, as the northern, semi invisible square also gets hit. It's the reason Obelisks, AGTS, and Tesla Coils have +1 range to the north.
Get working on some Medium Tanks. they'll deal with the constant buggy threat they use to harass Harvesters, and can take out the Stealth Tank in the field slightly to the west.
Use your second Ion Cannon on the Obelisk in the north western corner to stop them taking out nearby Harvesters.
You want to take out this small base. However, I find it best to CAPTURE every structure here (apart from the defenses obviously). They won't be triggered into attacking this way. Sell everything, but keep the Helipad or Advanced Power Plant if you want to build here.
Also, you'll want an AGT in the north east corner. It will be bait for Airstrikes, and surprisingly sometimes even the units they send.
Take the north western expansion. Taking the Comms. Centre prevents Airstrikes, but also gives you a chance to plop down a Refinery for the field nearby.
You'll more comfortably be able to starve the opponent now.
Medium Tanks are the way for me, I hate using Mammoths to attack, I just use them for constant small waves to defend, because you won't need to heal them up as much.
Get about 10-12 Medium Tanks and place them in the fields just north of the south west base.
Chances are the south east fields are depleted to a bare minimum, so a Harvester won't be able to fill up here.
The Mammoths will shoot nearby Harvesters still, and the AGTs will finish them off as well as the stupid units that go around this cliff.
Back away if an Artillery decides to be smart though, it will then go around into your AGTs path.
After a while you'll notice they'll stop sending units and Harvesters out.
They'll be out of money.
You'll now want to take out 2-3 of the Obelisks in their base with an Ion Cannon, the one in the north east will take out the turret placed on that semi invisible square of the Obelisk you're targeting.
Take out this one, and the two western ones.
In the mean time, start by building a few Humvees to map out the enemies base, you'll be building a Medium Tank force of 15-20 (I had plenty spare), and a couple of APCs with an Engineer in at least one to get the ball rolling too.
Rush the APCs through the west to the Con Yard and build a couple of Turrets. They're out of money, so will sell structures quickly.
Take out a few Advanced Power Plants and rush your Medium Tanks in.
Take out any Turrets, keep their Power down and take out the Airfield, Helipads and Hand of Nod before mopping up.
