Commodore 64 Floppy Disk Loader Microillusions Faery Tale Adventure 1988
Now this game has quite an unusual protection system. I remember a classmate had this game and he told me it cant be copied as he tried. If you boot a copy of the game it will come up with a message from the developer saying you are stealing from his kids and he will wreck your disk drive after 20 seconds. I think what happens is the head will continuously knock track one until you turn it off. I think if you let it go on for more than a few seconds you could possibly have your drive misaligned. Well, do two wrongs make a right? I wonder if there was any legal basis on suing the developer/publisher if indeed he damaged your hardware after you copied his game?
So i found a raw image. This will fail the protection. I converted it to a G64 and this will pass the protection. I think the copy protection really made this game run load very slow. The drive head tends to hover over a track for about a dozen seconds before moving to the next one. Then moving back. I think this has multiple checks in it. It also had manual copy protection.
Unfortunately i dont know how to record disk drive sounds with the emulator. I will try to capture this on real hardware via my U2+ and i can see if it will work also.
