Console Fighting Games of 1998 - Fighters Destiny
Fighters Destiny was a Nintendo 64 exclusive fighting game developed by Genki Co, Opus Corp and Anchor Inc. Fighters Destiny was released worldwide in 1998 with its final release in Japan on the 11th of December.
Fighters Destiny takes a different spin on the versus fighting game style with fights not determined by the depletion of your opponent's health bar, opting for instead a points-based system with a fighter requiring 7 points to find the fight.
These points are awarded for actions in the fight, for example, a ring out gets you 1 point, a throwdown will net you 2 points, counters will get you 3 points while special moves give you 4 points, and countering a special move will also give you 2 points.
In the event of a round being undecided with the round time limit, a points-based judges decision will decide the round winner. If the round goes to a judge's decision the points winner will get 1 point.
