Console Fighting Games of 1998 - Guilty Gear
2The start of a fighting game franchise that is still going strong 25 years later, Guilty Gear developed by Team Neo Blood and Arc System Works was released on the PlayStation in May 1998 with a US release in November.
Guilty Gear was reprinted in 1999, releasing again in Japan, with an extensive European release in 2000. A French PlayStation release of the game didn't happen until 2002.
Guilty Gear has seen many other re-releases over the subsequent years, with PSP, PS Vita, PS3, PS4 and Windows releases. The PS4 and Windows releases are the most recent in 2019.
