Console Fighting Games of 1998 - Destrega
3Destrega is one of the first fighting games to move away from the traditional fighting game style with Destrega opting for an arena-style fighting game with ranged combat being a major focus.
Developed by Omega Force, Destrega is only the second title developed by the studio following 1997's Dynasty Warriors and the last fighting game developed by the studio before they moved on to developing the Musou genre and their highly successful Dynasty Warriors series.
Destrega was a PlayStation exclusive release, with the game first released in Japan and the US in 1998. A Europe-wide release of the game would follow in 1999 as well as a re-release as a part of the Koei the Best range.
Like many games from the PS1 era, Destrega would receive a re-release on the PlayStation Network in 2011 on the PS3 and PSP in the US, with a Vita re-release in 2012, again only in the US.
