Contra: Operation Galuga Demo: Arcade mode stage 1, Ariana
4Konami's Contra: Operation Galuga is a reimagining of the original Contra (1987-88 Arcade/NES). Bill and Lance are the main characters. As before, the enemy is Red Falcon. Arcade mode also adds Ariana, Lucia, and a couple of Probotectors to the roster. By default you have a lifebar with several hit points, but you can switch to a 1-hit death mode for extra challenge. COG is developed by WayForward, the developer of the great Contra 4 on Nintendo DS. I'd say it's a safe bet for those who liked C4.
You pick a couple of perks before starting a game. Everyone has an exclusive perk on the list, which for Ariana is a longer slide.
This first stage is inspired by stages 1 and 3 from the arcade Contra. You can carry two different weapons, and also get them to level 2 by taking an identical item to the weapon you're currently using. The smart bombs from Contra 3 and 4 are not here, but you have the Overload ability. You sacrifice the weapon you're using to perform a special technique.
Get ready for the full game on 12 March. It's coming to Steam, PS4/5, Xbox One/Series S&X, and Switch.
