I'm surprised she didn't run into 9S at all with all that extra wasted time. You'd think he'd have come across her at some point. Anyway, you CAN just wait at the Flooded City to get the virus (it'll happen eventually even if you don't move) and then wait for it to hit 100% naturally, but to make this quicker, running towards the mall will force the virus progression to jump up at certain points, ending at 90% in just 3-4 minutes. Definitely saves you a lot more time.
