Cortex Command 2 - Ultimate
5Cortex command was always a pretty great game but its developers shit the bed on what an amazing game this was. I will take you through the process to get the ultimate version of this game which could be coined Cortex command 2 and is similar to what we could have gotten. It becomes a game on par with stardew valley or Terraria. And its bullshit it gets no attention. Simply put its one of the best 2d games available for free.
Step 1: Cortex command community project

Cortex command's base game on steam and elsewhere was a aging engine and many will play this version and move on. BUT This version of the game is the standard for playing. get this first and install. This will be the primary version you play.
Step 2: Base music change

Cortex commands music is iconic for older fans but is bizarre and at times depressing. My mod will replace the music with epic music from UT2004 and give it a much needed face lift.
Step 3: Planets to explore

Cortex command always had a fatal flaw. In a game about space exploration there was only one planet to explore... I realized this critical error and corrected it with my mod. Unfortunately there is no way the developers implemented this so you will have to replace the games Base.rte based on which planet you wish to play on. There is currently 5 planets to choose from, Ice, Desert, Alien, Dead world and the base lush planet.
Step 4: Mod it till it crashes

This is the part that I missed at first. Cortex command mods are not exactly compatible with CCP. A very unfortunate fact of redoing the engine with CCP. However there is actually a site of great mods available and most of what you need in CCP. Take note of the game version as some mods won't work with 4.0, 3.0 etc. Always test and be cautions as any seasoned modder knows and in general CCP is very easy to work with in comparison to skyrim, witcher, sims 3 and such
