Could Google Stadia Succeed? They Stopped Talking About Features BEFORE Launch
I really want Google Stadia to succeed. I have been following the project for some time and have been listing in to everything that Google Stadia COULD be. I really want Stadia to push gaming forward and be an awesome platform that gives gamers a unique experience that you can 't get anywhere else.
In this video I discuss some of the main qualities and features that have been brought up by the Stadia team and why I want these features to work.
There are a handful of things that people will expect from google stadia for this platform to work and not fail on day one.
1. Lag- If there is noticeable lag or latency right from the start, this will allow every gaming journalist to say "see I told you so"! Almost every ambitious game has a rocky launch. The division, Diablo 3, Sea of thieves and the list is nearly endless these days. IF stadia works well from the start it will be poised to have a great launch when it goes fully public.
2. Crowd play- This is a feature that was talked about more in depth at GDC in March of 2019 than at E3. As a youtuber I want to know exactly how crowdplay will work and I really want to see it in action. Based on the way it was shown at GDC, the feature was nowhere near ready and only a concept. If features like crowdplay are available at the November launch, I think Stadia could do well because then the playform will give rise to new communities. Crowd play will allow FOMO to set xin a youtube viewers will want to join in with their favorite streamer. In short, this is one of the main features I am looking forward to.
3. No more aim bots, lag switching or being affected by the slowest connection. Google stadia will do all of the computing in one place meaning that no one console has the potential to cheat. This also mean that if you have decent internet, you will not be dragged down by anybody else with a bad connection. You will not see players skipping around or anything else like that.
4. State Share- Being able to send another player (or audience) my save game state could be really fun if done right. It also means that viewers could challenge a youtuber live to beat really tough areas. It would be possible for someone stuck in a game to send their save game state, get help from another player, and get the save game state sent back. That could be really fun and interesting for sure. This feature would not work for every game but I think it could be interesting with the right games.
5. Unique experiences- Google Stadia NEEDS to take advantage of the large data centers to provide an experience that is not possible on a console or most PCs because the AI is so massive and there are so many players.
I want to play a game where all of my viewers can join in with me and we can team up to battle other youtubers and their lobby of viewers in some sort of TDM, battle royale, or whatever. ANY sort of competition where it puts one channel or group vs another would be EPIC.
I just want to do something that can't be done on other platforms. For some reason I am getting my hopes up that these features will be there day one of launch. More than likely Google Stadia is being quiet BECAUSE these features will not be built in day one for most if not ANY of the games. More than likely there are not going to be any more Google Stadia Exclusive games that we don't already know about. I just can't help but hope that there are some surprises before the launch on November 19th.
