Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex Part 9: Jet-Packing Woes
So, after finishing off the race, we then head over to another Ball mission which is set in some sort of snowy mountain (remember, this is the fire elemental though*Kappa*). I don’t really mind the ball missions to much because I feel like I have control over the ball (unlike the mission in the second-half of this video) and, for the most part, they are rather simple levels to do. The only issue that I had with this level is that I was missing one box by the end of it and couldn’t think of where it could’ve been (it’s not like this is the first mission where I didn’t get all the boxes but I had a good feeling about this mission). The real problem came in the next and final mission of the stage in which they give you a jet pack. The controls on the jetpack were some of the clunkiest in the game and it felt really awkward. The X button moves it forward, Circle moves it back, Square to attack and they inverted the movement axis. They never explain any of the controls for this game in anyway shape or form (I assume because returning fans don’t want to go through tutorials that they already understand but it makes it harder for newer players like myself to understand what is going on). The worst part is that you can’t change the controls so you have to try and complete it with some of the most awkward controls in the entire game. Not the biggest fan of this part of the mission (we do end up getting into a base and running around like normal which makes me ask why they put the jet-pack section in the game).
