Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex Part 11: Hanging for Dear Life
So, after completing the Third stage in the game, we come back to start off the Wind Elemental’s stage (I think he is wind considering all his puns but he might be ice since his stage is snowing) and starting things off with another Coco Mission. This one isn’t nearly as bad as the next Coco mission (fairly sure it’s the next Coco mission) since we are just running around like per usual. For the most part, there isn’t too much to talk about this particular mission expect for the end of it where we have to outrun an avalanche. The controls weren’t bad, I wanted to ask about the gates we have to pass through; as we are snowboarding our way down the mountain, there are a few gates that we can try and pass through but I’ve never gone out of my way to go through them all so I have no idea what you get from doing that (maybe an extra Power Gem?). It is interesting that they put that mini-game there without telling us beforehand/forcing us to complete it which is nice. After that though, we find ourselves hanging on by a thread, both physically and mentally. So, the next area introduces to us that ability to hang on edges and to climb over it (sort of like really complex monkey bars). What they don’t tell you is that one side is electrified and, if you were to touch it while trying to crawl under it, it will instantly knock you off the platform. There are some things I wish this game would explain to me but they don’t for some reason and it’s kind of baffling. I wonder if this game was designed in such a way that it allows you enough room for error and makes you just try to learn all the specifics like this so you feel good once you figure it out (it just frustrates me till I complete it).
