Dark Phoenix is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe, and when it came time to implement her into Marvel vs. Capcom 3, it caused one former Capcom staff member to say she "made my mind melt."

The regular version of Phoenix was a strong character in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but building up 5 bars of super meter and getting knocked out would cause Dark Phoenix to rise up in her place.
