Published by Kemco and directed by the famous Kenji Terada (probably most famous for being the Scenario Writer for the first three Final Fantasy games), Crazy Chase is a little-known and relatively unique game. There are actually five games in the series (though some would argue four and a half) and all of them except two actually came to the U.S. (though the Japanese Game Boy game is a modified version of "The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 2"). This game was actually cancelled in Japan oddly enough at the last minute, though it was released in the U.S. and Europe (though none of the games saw commercial success, making things even more awkward).

This particular game was originally released for the SNES back in 1994 (we also own that one, which was titled "Kid Klown in Crazy Chase") and released in fairly limited quantities. Sadly, it is also the slightly better of the two from a gameplay standpoint. This game retains all the fun (and in some instances pain) of the SNES game but with washed-out in-game colors and a slower framerate. The cutscenes take up the whole screen and are nicer, but the game also looks like it has less animations. There's also the issue of the sound, which just sounded cleaner in the SNES game, though the GBA tracks sound more full-featured. Of course, that isn't to say the game is bad. It still retains the quirkiness of the SNES game and is more forgiving in many spots due to the slower pace. It also features more levels. This game has a Japan-only sequel released for Playstation known as "Kid Klown in Crazy Chase 2: Love Love Hani Soudatsusen".

In Crazy Chase, you play as the loveable and clumsy Kid Klown, who is rescuing King Klown's daughter, Princess Honey, from a zany space pirate known as Dirty Joe, who is in love with Honey. He too is a clumsy dolt, but he's craftier than Kid Klown, but Kid Klown is determined to save the attractive Honey and get his name known throughout the galaxy.

The object of the game is to collect the four suits (Heart, Diamond, Club, and Spade) while avoiding loads of obstacles and traps, but you're also racing against a bomb with a really long fuse. If you get injured too many times or the bomb detonates, you lose. Additionally, if you fail to collect all four suits, you start the level over and have to collect the ones you missed. The game is frustrating at first, but grows on you. It's certainly a unique twist on your standard "Race Against The Clock" type games. Enjoy.
