8Crusader Kings is a very deep strategy game with a fun narrative. You play not as a country or a single ruler, but as a bloodline. If your character dies, you play his heir, and may well wind up in civil war with your brother over his titles.
In this series, Sheepdog and I play as Norse Vikings, starting off as lowly counts, and trying to conquer all of scandinavia while looting the rest of the world.
